Summer In the City Project is now directing its focus towards the youngest victims of Hurricane Sandy.

The holiday season is near. We are planning ahead knowing that the holidays may be a painful time for many children. Our mission is to alleviate some of the hardships families will be facing at this normally joyous time.

We have begun collecting funds and toys to help as many children as possible receive a holiday gift this year. If you would like to contribute there are a few ways that you can help. Checks may be written to the Visual Arts Foundation, 220 East 23rd Street, Suite 609, New York 10010. Please make sure to write in the memo section: “Summer in the City Project: OPERATION SANDY”. We will also be collecting wrapped gifts for children including infants (please put a card on the package stating age & sex appropriateness for the present). If you would like to sponsor a holiday gift party please contact us. We also need volunteers with large vehicles to deliver the gifts in December. Let us know if you would like to be part of this endeavor.

SICP was founded immediately after Hurricane Katrina to bring girls from New Orleans to NYC for a week of art, culture and fun. The School of Visual Arts as well as numerous restaurants, businesses such as Madame Tussauds, and individuals worked together towards the goal of giving kids devastated by this tragedy a memorable experience here in NYC. The grass roots efforts of SICP will continue to help children whose lives have been impacted by natural disasters.

Thank you all.
